Who is Marco?
I'm Marco — a frontend developer from Brazil, based in Berlin since 2019. Thirteen years in, still mostly React, Vue, and Angular, still enjoying the work.
A brief journey into my past
I graduated in Information Systems from FCSL in 2012, and started my career the following year, in 2013, working across backend and frontend projects in Belo Horizonte — reporting tools, investment platforms, telecom CRMs.
Over the next several years I moved between agencies and consultancies — Algar Tech, Avenue Code, CI&T, and a couple of freelance stretches — gradually shifting my focus from full-stack work toward frontend, picking up whatever a project needed along the way.
In 2019 I moved to Jena, Germany, to work on TAF mobile's urban mobility platform — my first frontend-only role and my first time working abroad. From there I joined Jung von Matt TECH in Berlin, where I spent over four years building e-commerce and web platforms for clients like Fielmann and Fussball.de.
Today I work as a Frontend Developer at GSMK in Berlin — 13 years and counting since that first job in 2013, still mostly frontend, still figuring out the next thing to learn.
What defines me
Attention to detail
I don't hand off work I'm not proud of. Whether it's a pixel offset or an edge case, if it doesn't meet my own bar, it's not done yet.
An eye for design
Years of frontend work have given me a good sense for layout, spacing, and typography — good design shapes the whole experience, not just the surface.
Working in a team
Teamwork isn't just splitting tasks — it's supporting each other, sharing context, and growing together on the way to a shared goal.
Clear communication
I try to be direct and easy to work with — saying what I mean, flagging problems early, and keeping people in the loop without the noise.
Always learning
Thirteen years in and I'm still picking up new tools, frameworks, and ways of solving problems — staying curious is part of the job.
A sense of humor
Software is serious business, but I don't take myself too seriously while building it — a good laugh makes long sessions easier.

- Fielmann — led the eyewear e-commerce platform across Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Poland, and Italy, owning the Italy showroom localization end-to-end, shipping a subscription feature that generated 3,000+ new subscriptions in 3 months, and integrating SCAYLE's composable-commerce architecture.
